Making Exceptions is a podcast about the people who build things. Not the pitch decks or the funding rounds, but the actual work: the architecture decisions that shaped a company, the side project that became a product, the moment a technical founder realised they needed to learn how to lead.

Each episode is a conversation with a technical founder or engineering leader. We dig into their journey from writing code to running teams, making products, and building businesses. The stories are personal, the lessons are practical, and the tone is honest.

Format

Episodes run 45 to 60 minutes. Each one covers the guest's origin story, what they're building now, the decisions that shaped their path, and a rapid-fire round to close. Video and audio, published weekly.

The Host

Elliot Taylor is the founder of EJNT Ltd, building products like Coderbuds and BishBashDosh. He's spent over a decade working across engineering, security, and product, and started Making Exceptions to have the conversations he wishes he'd heard earlier in his career.
